Starting out in early 2010 and coming from a background with little musical knowledge, it has been nothing short of a surprise that rapid progression in the world of electronic music has come relatively naturally to Nico.
Having an open and eclectic taste in music throughout his years has definitely helped Mendez define his own musical creations. Being quoted “an advocate” of deep house, producing Ep’s that have seen releases on labels such as UM records, Erase Records, Wired Label, Underground Source Records, Johnny Johnny, Music Is For Lovers and more.
His more hard hitting productions are often described as having that “Dirty Bird” sound, yet he’s proven more than capable of producing full on deep house grooves. Whatever Nico places his stamp on, rest assured there will be something in there for everyone’s palate.
The Glaswegian artist has been steadily building a back catalogue of mesmerising beats that have definitely been making waves. Receiving major support and attention from artists like, Enzo Siffredi, Claude Vonstroke, Little by Little, Shiba San, Ardalan, The Mekanizm, Rodger Sanchez, Stacey Pullen, Ray Okpara, David Keno, Ben Mono, Amine Edge and Bebetta to name a few. His sound swims against the tide of over-produced house currently doing the rounds.
His sound spans across the House, Deep House and Tech House spectrum with an accessional appearance on the techno playing field! Nico Mendez is a regular name that floats around the Glasgow circuit. Having held residencies all over the city, and making regular appearances with events and Club Nights like Depth Charge, Option One, and Rhythm Feedr.
Early 2017 has seen the launch of Nico’s own imprint ‘Johnny Johnny’. Solely managed and run by himself, Nico’s aim was to create a platform and forward thinking brand that showcased great music.
